The challenge: Design a website but ditch Figma for something completely unexpected! This prompt is all about choosing a non-typical web design tool and reimagining familiar website elements in a brand-new environment. Think headlines, CTAs, cursors, navigation, tooltips, logos, videos, footers, or status indicators… all recreated using tools like IKEA’s planner, Google Docs, Notes, Milanote, Microsoft Paint, desktop icons, Womp, Spline, Pixilart, The Sims, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, or anything else you can dream up. The goal is to play, experiment, and let the limitations of your chosen tool spark new ideas.

What this Prompt encourages:

This Non-Traditional Web Design Lab encourages breaking habits and embracing creativity through constraint. By stepping away from standard design software, the focus shifts to storytelling, layout thinking, and visual problem-solving in unexpected ways. Whether you go lo-fi, ultra-chaotic, hyper-detailed, or surprisingly polished, the challenge is to explore how websites can come to life anywhere, and to see how unconventional tools can unlock fresh approaches to digital design.
